Bio
A notoriously eclectic bunch, The Dont's spend several hours a week improvising in their San Francisco studio next to a glass factory in Bayview, while retaining hundreds of hours of experimental recordings since forming in 2003. INNER EL CAMINO, their sophomore release, hit the streets in early 2007.
The Dont's were named CMJ/Sonicbids Artist of the Week in February 2007 and SF Deli Magazine's Artist of the Month for March 2007. They have been featured on numerous local podcasts, including the Bay Bridged (Best of 2006), Bagel Radio, Insomnia SF, SOMACast and Pacific Noise. The Dont's are happy to have received nice words of late from the SF Chronicle, East Bay Express, Flavorpill, Bass Player, The Owl Mag, PopMatters and West Coast Performer. The Dont's will tour the West Coast this summer and fall in support of INNER EL CAMINO.
Recorded at SF Soundworks and John Vanderslice's Tiny Telephone, INNER EL CAMINO features Tom Waits' former horn virtuoso Ralph Carney, as The Dont's expand their indie rock palate to incorporate jagged new-wave romps, crusty psychedelica and their trademark no-fi balladry.
In April 2005, the band self-released MISC RADIO LEAKAGE, a binaurally recorded foray into the depths of love and commerce. Leakage found the four pursuing darkly melodic passages inspired by Can, the Fall, Flaming Lips, Bauhaus, and vintage Talking Heads, and garnered acclaim from several national zines, publications and online reviews.
